Outside

Today I took some pictures outside in a garden to get a more casual photo for the double page spread. This image will just be small and in the corner with the text. This image is used to show the real personality of "Naomi" as the others are in a photo shoot they are more serious . This shows that she is just a normal person just like anyone else and she does have fun and does have a laugh.

Studio

Today I was in the studio again and I was trying to get a photo for my contents page. I knew that I wanted a studio photo as it matches my style models a lot more as they both had studio photos.

I want to put the image on the right hand side and then the text will be on the left and it should fit around the side of her.  However when we were taking these photo's the lighting was being temperamental and only sometimes going off. Because of this I am going to have another session in the studio but I will put these images on the contents page to see whether I like it or not. I can increase the brightness of the images however I may still need another session just to make sure I am happy with my image.

How to create a Bar code on Photoshop

How to make a bar code.

 I learnt how to make a bar code. I did this on photo shop by doing 8 easy steps.

Step 1: Open a new document and make sure its on the international paper and it's A4 size. 

Step 2: Next you need to unlock the layer by right clicking and selecting layer from background. Then create a new layer by clicking on the button that looks like a sticky notes in the bottom right corner. Then make sure you are on the correct layer. (The top one).

Step 3: Click on the selection tool. At the top change the style to fixed size, the width to 100 and the height to 1. Then click on the page and what appears to be a small line should appear, its actually a small rectangle.

Step 4: Zoom in and fill in the rectangle black. (By using the paint bucket tool and making sure it's on black)

 Step 5: Go to filter, noise and then add noise.

Step 6: Change the settings to ,amount 400.00%, Gaussian and click on monjocromatic.

Step 7: You should be left with a thin line which has a random pattern of monochromatic tones.

Step 8: Finally stretch out the strip ( you may need to select show transform controls) to the size you want and then save it.

You should now have a bar code which only needs numbers added to it but you can just add a small text box and add in 13 numbers from 0-9.

I think the contents page is the worst out of the three as it doesn't look very professional. Again I think I would like to change the colour theme and make the articles have a bit of description. I think I need to make one of the images more important and make the others look less organised. However I do like the small details I've put on the bottom as I think that makes it look better as an overall piece.

With My double page spread I think that I would like Amy to wear the same outfit and be in a similar location but again bring in a instrument, I'm thinking maybe a guitar. I like how I have used a drop capital and quotes and also a sub heading. I also like how there is the added detail along the bottom of the page I think it makes it look more professional.

This is the first draft of my front cover. I already know that I need to redo this image as it gives the impression of a fashion magazine rather than a music magazine. When I take the new set of photos I want to make Amy use an instrument. I also think I may change the colour theme as I don't think the pink and blue look right together.

Photo Shoot 4

Contents page

Today I went and took a set of photos which will only end up being on the contents page. I don't want all of the images to be of Amy so I used my models, Emily and Harry this time as the magazine will be about different artists. I though it would be good to use different musical instruments as so far none of the photos actually show any links to music. I though the contents page would be a perfect place to show more relevance to music as it refers to the whole magazine. If there was no link to music then it wouldn't be a music magazine.  On the front cover there will be related stories about the music industry and other artists but no photos of them. In some of the photos I didn't show the artists face as it is more mysterious and it would encourage the reader to go to the article and see who it is and what they are doing. I will also be editing there photos so some have plan background(the ones of Harry)
